Story
Kathy came to us with a design that stood out with style and the intent to live life on the road while working remotely. With this in mind, we needed a practical work area built into a comfortable living space.
The van Kathy chose was a long-wheelbase Dodge Promaster, which is a little shorter than a Sprinter in living space. This meant trying to maximize our layout and design. With this in mind, we opted to have the bed sideways to allow for a larger living area and were able to fit a full-size kitchen with an oven and enough counter space to host a friend or two.
Two fixed bench seats, plus a front swivel on the passenger seat allow seating for up to four people while having a slide-out table which doubles as a work area.
160 amp hour AGM battery system, 1500 watt inverter, 40 amp DCDC charger, 40 amp solar controller, shore power hook up and 200 watts of solar keep this van powered. A 20lb gas bottle fuels the stove, oven, propex heater and the outdoor shower. Paired with a 75 litre water tank, 40 litre dometic 12-volt fridge and portable toilet, giving Kathy the option to live completely off grid for multiple days at a time.
Kathy wanted to stand out from the crowd with a bold design, featuring black cabinetry, gold accents and a stylish splashback. We worked closely with Kathy to make the finished product on our end as stylish and practical as possible, while still allowing her to add her own flair and colour palette when the van was handed over.
REVIEW FROM KATHY:
“I was fortunate to have Outdoor Thrills Co. convert my 2017 Ram Promaster into my dream camper in the winter of 2021! From beginning to end, they were an absolute joy to work with. I had very little knowledge of the building process, but I knew how I wanted it to look. I showed them some pictures, told them my budget and they made it happen. When it came to making decisions, he would break down the options for me, so I knew the pros & cons of both. When he encountered some issues with the van itself, he helped me sort it out by taking it to the garage for repairs, as I was away working (sliding/back doors not properly closing). They kept me updated with photos throughout the process, always kept a good flow of communication and completed the van on time.
I’ve had my van for 4 months now and I couldn’t be happier with it! I get so many compliments on the build. It is beautiful, functional and feels like home!
If you are thinking about converting a van, these are the people to do it! Their knowledge, work ethic, and easy-going nature truly made it such an enjoyable experience; I can’t recommend them enough!”
